Take your car camping, festival weekend, or family “glamping” experience to a whole new level of comfort with this CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent. Designed to be set up in minutes and provide over 100 square feet of living space, it’s a miniature home away from home.
ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 2 Person Tent
ALPS Mountaineering offers many different tent models that vary in color and size. This Lynx version is popular and comes in one-person, two-person, and four-person sizes. They each have a similar color and design, with an easy setup built in and rain flies.
Rectangular dome tents give you both more floor space and head room, making them very popular for beginners all the way up to advanced campers.
Who is this product for?
At less than $100, this is a mid-range priced model two-person tent. It can be good for beginner campers who want a better designed tent than one that costs less, and you’ll see the quality from the first night you sleep in it. Experienced campers can also enjoy using this tent for either shorter or extended trips.
It sets up quickly and has so many features that one could be included on any kind of outdoor excursion. This tent wouldn’t be for those seeking a very heavy-duty tent that could survive in extreme cold weather conditions, since it isn’t designed that way. It’s best for very warm to mildly cold temperatures.
What’s included?
When you purchase this ALPS Mountaineering Lynx Tent, you receive quite a bit for your money. The gray, orange, and black tent itself comes standard, made of 75D 185T poly taffeta with a 2,000 mm coating on the floor. It has heavy-duty pole clips that quickly snap over the tent poles.
It comes with a separate bag to hold the aluminum orange poles, which are folded and easily fit together. You get a separate bag with the 7075 aluminum stakes and included guy ropes. It also comes with a complete rainfly that goes over the top and easily attaches. You don’t get a tarp or any additional accessories, like sleeping pads. It also comes with a carrying bag.
Overview of features
This tent measures 90” (7.5’) long x 60” (5’) wide x 46” (3.83’) high. It weighs 5.25 pounds, which makes it lightweight for backpacking and camping. Due to its long length, campers who are up to 6’5” will sleep comfortably here. You get two doors, each having mesh on the top, and the zippers are extra-large #8 sized and durable.
There is a mesh gear pocket that acts as a “nightstand” for holding small items. When rolled up, the whole tent measures about 5.5” in diameter and 12” long. The tent poles are made from aluminum, which is a lighter metal that’s also sturdy for multiple setups.
It can bend and hold up the weight of the tent without breaking. The rainfly is made of 75D 185T polyester that resists UV damage. All seams are factory sealed. Inside, you get two storage pockets and a gear loft.
Tutorial
Setting up this tent is fast and takes less than 10 minutes. Take the two folded tent poles out of the bag. Slide the sections together to create two long tent poles. Lay the tent out on the ground facing upwards. Place the poles in an “X” formation diagonally across the top. Slide the poles through the outer grommets at the corners.
Find the center hook and clip that over the point where the two poles cross each other. Then pick up each clip and clip them to the poles on each of the four sides. Slide the tent stake through the webbing loop on each corner and push into the ground. Put the rainfly on top, with the vestibule over the door. Buckle the corners to keep it in place. If you need to, use the guy ropes to secure the tent down even further.
Alternatives
Campla 2 Person Camping Tent
While the ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 2 Person Tent does have some flaws, we think you’ll love the Campla 2 Person Camping Tent instead. This waterproof and windproof camping tent is also made of durable polyester and is ideal for three season outdoor use.
You’ll love the included LED light strip system that keeps your space illuminated at night. It also has a USB port connection for hooking up gadgets. You’ll find it in the same mid-price range, too. It’s an excellent choice.
Conclusion
You really can’t go wrong on your next outdoor adventure when you choose the ALPS Mountaineering Lynx Tent. Designed to fit two adults comfortably and being longer than other tents of its size, it has two doors for easy access, a rainfly that creates double vestibules for storing your gear, and packs up nice and light for backpacking and camping.
