One of the most trusted brands in camping equipment, Coleman calls itself “the outdoor company.” They put their tents through rigorous testing, recreating all kinds of extreme weather conditions, so that you stay safe, warm, and dry. No matter what climate or part of the world you decide to go camping, a Coleman tent literally has you covered!

Coleman Sundome 2 Person Tent

Don’t let the low price fool you; this Coleman Sundome 2 person tent has a lot to offer. Coleman has featured 2-person tents for upwards of 30 years, so this is one of their most popular standard models. It’s called the Sundome because of its shape and the included rainfly. You can look up and see the sky at night without it on.

Who is this product for?

Are you looking for a tent that’s lightweight, easy to set up, and has a low price point without sacrificing on quality? Then this would be the model for you. It’s ideal for teenagers or single adults to use solo, since you could fit everything else into it. Two teenagers or smaller adults would also be able to snuggle in comfortably.

This would be a great tent for those who are new to camping, only camp a few times each year, and campers on a budget. It takes about 10 minutes to either set up or take down. While those new to camping will like it, it’s been put through rigorous tests and would do very well on an extended trip.

While this is a great tent for many campers, there are some people it wouldn’t be good for. It’s a standard size but wouldn’t be for people who are taller than 6’3”. The space is a tight squeeze for two larger adults especially when you add the rest of the gear, so it’s recommended you get this for just one adult.

Also, due to the tent’s size, it won’t fit in a regular backpack, so you’d need a backpacking backpack. Several campers have reported some leaks, but you can purchase a seam sealer and seal up the seams before camping.

What’s included?

With this tent, you get two lightweight, sturdy poles and the required tent stakes to set it up. The tent itself has pole sleeves to feed them in once. It comes with a canvas carrying bag that has an expandable rip strip so you can store more inside.

You also get a great rainfly to keep you dry, which you can take off and be able to lie prone in the tent while looking up at the stars. Setup instructions help you put this together in minutes. This does not come with a tarp, which is recommended.

Overview of features

This spacious tent comes in either two color choices: light green or navy blue. It measures 82.68” (6.89 feet) long, 59.06” (4.92 feet) wide, and 47.24” (3.93 feet) high, and it weighs just 7 pounds. It fits a queen-sized sleeping bag and standard regular sized self-inflating sleeping pads. Two inside pouches can hold your accessories. There are two large windows and a ground vent for ventilation. The door has one of these windows with a removable bug screen.

On the bottom is a WeatherTec system with patented inverted seams and a bathtub style floor to keep water out. Every zipper on the doors and windows was designed to be snag free, so it’ll glide smoothly and keep you safe and dry inside. A loop in the ceiling is for hanging a lantern.

Tutorial

To assemble, spread the tent out flat on the ground, right side up. Take one of the foldable poles out of the pole bag. Tighten the poles to create one long pole each. Feed one of the poles through the tube on the top of the tent and through the loop at the opposite bottom. Feed the other pole through the other tube and through the loop at the bottom. Stake it down with the included tent stakes. Instructions for this are included, too.

Alternatives

A person up to 6’8” in height would find this tent much roomier. It’s around the same price range, and it also has other features, like a large door and interior storage pocket.
